The actor set to replace Peter Capaldi in the lead role of Doctor Who will be announced by the BBC tomorrow (16 July).
The frontrunners include Kris Marshall, whose odds were slashed after his departure from BBC series Death in Paradise, and Oscar-winning star Tilda Swinton.
Viewers will learn the new actor’s identity after the Wimbledon men’s singles final that will see Roger Federer take on Marin Cilic from 2pm.
His final episode, airing on Christmas Day, will also mark the swansong of lead writer Steven Moffat who will be by Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall.
