Joe and Anthony Russo (referred to in Hollywood circles as the Russo brothers), who directed this year’s highest grossing film so far, Captain America: Civil War, are soon heading to the small screen with an adaptation of Water Hill’s 1979 cult classic The Warriors.
The Russo brothers are largely credited for bringing some “grit” to the Marvel universe with their first acclaimed superhero film, Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
On top of the two upcoming Avengers films, the Russo brothers are also set to produce a big screen remake of The Thomas Crown Affair with Michael B Jordan set to star.
The Warriors, based on Sol Yurick’s popular 1975 novel, took place in a New York overrun by gangs.
