It also, so generously, introduced several new annual holidays to celebrate: Treat Yo Self on 13 October, the perfect day of the year for some uninhibited splurging, and Galentine’s Day, a precursor to Valentine’s Day celebrated on 13 February.
Companies now regularly promote the day as an alternative to Valentine’s Day, with US chain store Target even selling Galentine’s Day gifts – though they’re a little more grounded than what Leslie would come up with.

Ever since the episode titled “Galentine’s Day” aired in 2010, the holiday’s consistently grown in popularity, transcending the show itself and taking on a life of its own.
