Rey (Daisy Ridley) doesn’t have a full-blown showdown with Snoke (Andy Serkis) before his brutal bisection, and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) never even touch lightsabers during their climactic battle on the salty dunes of Crait.
Of course, given the way other sequences in Star Wars: The Last Jedi play out, it’s entirely possible that the fight between Finn and Phasma was always intended to be unexpectedly short.
Episode VIII subverts expectations numerous times during its runtime, and some of the chief examples involve the fact that many of the fight scenes that fans wanted to see in the film ultimately never even happen.
