Though details remain sparse at this point, it looks like a sequel to The Hitman’s Bodyguard is definitely in development.
According to the announcement made at the Cannes Film Festival, the sequel will be called The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, and a script is currently in development.
Moreover, the title of the sequel seemingly suggests that the follow-up will focus more heavily on Salma Hayek’s Sonia Kincaid (the wife of Jackson’s Darius Kincaid), so it seems logical that many of the original players could return.
Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds are not confirmed to return to their respective roles, but it would make plenty of sense to see them come back, considering the first film’s open-ended conclusion that paved the way for a buddy movie franchise.
