Fast and Furious 9 has tapped writer Daniel Casey to pen the script for the upcoming installment, replacing long-time writer Chris Morgan in the role, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
For the first time since the second installment in the action franchise, the Fast and Furious franchise has a new writer.
Fast and Furious 9 is set for an April 10, 2020 release with Justin Lin set to return to directing in the franchise, having directed four prior installments including the third through sixth installments.
Casey is one of the co-writers behind the upcoming sci-fi thriller Kin, which has been getting positive early attention from audiences following the release of its trailer a few weeks ago.
