Variety reports that Oscar-nominated writer-producer-director Joss Whedon (Avengers: Age of Ultron, Justice League, The Avengers) is set to executive produce Pippa Smith: Grown Up Detective, a half-hour comedy series currently in development at Freeform.
Pippa Smith: Grown-Up Detective is created by Siobhan Thompson (CollegeHumor Originals, Bad Internet) and Rebecca Drysdale (The Big Gay Sketch Show, Key and Peele, Baskets) and is described as a dark comedy that follows Pippa Smith, a twenty-something who played a former kid sleuth on television as she deals with relationships, addiction, and being too dang old for the detecting game.
Each episode, Pippa solves a new case, while unraveling a bigger mystery and attempting to navigate a messy personal life.
Freeform also recently canceled fan-favorite series Shadowhunters after three seasons, while ordering the Pretty Little Liars spinoff The Perfectionists to series.
