Goodnight Mommy joins the genre of other foreign horror films with English adaptations, including the highly acclaimed Let Me In based on the 2008 Swedish horror film Let the Right One In, which itself was based on a 2004 Swedish novel.
Goodnight Mommy follows nine-year-old twin brothers Elias and Lukas in a lonesome house in the countryside as they await their mother’s return from her cosmetic surgery.
“My favorite films are those that invite the audience to step inside their protagonist’s journey,” Sobel told the outlet.
Following the smash critical success of the 2014 foreign horror thriller Goodnight Mommy, an English-language adaptation has officially been ordered with David Kaplan, producer of the indie horror hit It Follows, set to produce for Animal Kingdom, according to Deadline.
