Star Wars: Rogue One Gets An Official Synopsis

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens December 16, 2016, followed by Star Wars: Episode VIII on December 15, 2017, the Han Solo Star Wars Anthology film on May 25, 2018, Star Wars: Episode IX in 2019, and the third Star Wars Anthology film in 2020.
From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an all-new epic adventure.
Star Wars fans have a lot to look forward to this week, as the highly-anticipated second trailer for this December’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will premiere on August 11 during NBC’s coverage of the Rio Olympics.
The spinoff is technically the “next” Star Wars installment in terms of release date, but the events take place 34 years before The Force Awakens.
