The film took in only $5.3 million overseas for a worldwide total of $32 million.
It looks like it will still do quite well overseas, taking in $117 million internationally for a $153 million global total.
Coming in at #3 is Sony’s ten-years-later sequel Zombieland: Double Tap, which grossed on the high-end of its opening weekend estimates with a $26.7 million opening.
While this was enough to win the weekend, it was far short of expectations for the $185 million budgeted sequel, and only half of the $69.4 million the first Maleficent made for its 2014 opening.
