Turner Lands 11 Star Wars Films, Including Parts VIII, IX and Rogue One

  • Through unprecedented deals with The Walt Disney Studios and 20th Century Fox, TNT and TBS have secured exclusive basic cable and ad-supported on-demand rights to the entire live-action Star Wars oeuvre as we currently know it.

  • The Disney agreement covers five of the six original Star Wars films, while a separate deal with 20th Century Fox folds in the one that got it all started, Star Wars: A New Hope.

  • The Force Awakens (which made its premium cable debut Sept. 10 on Starz) will land on TNT in early 2018, followed in 2019 by Rogue One.
