According to Variety, Universal has tapped Watchmen director Stephen Williams to helm its next creature feature titled Don’t Go In the Water, which the trade describes as “a suspenseful monster movie.”
Universal is keen to revitalize its classic monsters, particularly after the success of the recent The Invisible Man.
Williams originally worked alongside J.J. Abrams as a co-executive producer on Lost before venturing into TV directing with stints on Showtime’s Ray Donovan and AMC’s The Walking Dead.
He recently helmed two episodes of HBO’s Watchmen, notably the episode titled “The Extraordinary Being.”
