Mallory first appeared on a 2014 episode of ABC‘s Extreme Weight Loss, with trainer and host Chris Powell helping her lose more than 150 pounds over the course of a year, going from 329 pounds to 178.
The heartbreaking death of Extreme Weight Loss alum Brandi Mallory last month now has an official explanation. Mallory — who was found dead on Nov. 9 at the age of 40 — died from complications due to obesity, which was “considered a significant condition contributing to [her] death,” according to the official autopsy conducted by the Fulton County Medical Examiner and obtained by TMZ.
The report cited Mallory’s weight, an enlarged heart and elevated blood indicators suggestive of prediabetes as factors in her overall health.
“It’s so sad that she’s gone because of who she was for so many, including myself,” Powell told People magazine following her death.
