I’m not entirely surprised to hear it, but it seems Eugene Cordero hinted heavily that Tendi and Rutherford will remain best friends and nothing more at the end of Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 5.

If there’s a commitment to continue the story of Star Trek: Lower Decks in some form, and the tension between Tendi and Rutherford is still there, then it’s not out of the question that they will end up dating in a later adventure.
