Beauty and the Beast has also crossed $200 million in just five days domestically, tying with four other titles in crossing in that time span: Captain America: Civil War, The Dark Knight, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
Domestically, Tuesday saw Beauty and the Beast beat the previous pre-summer Tuesday record holder Furious 7 ($13.3 million) and last year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ($12.1 million), as well as the first Tuesdays of movies including The Avengers, Rogue One and Captain America: Civil War.
Walt Disney Pictures‘ Beauty and the Beast added an impressive $17.9 million domestically and $18.2 million internationally on Tuesday, for a global take of $36.1 million in one day.
This means that the live-action adaptation has now grossed $206.2 million in North American and $222.3 million overseas, for a worldwide total of $428.5 million.
