The show will not be a “traditional reboot” and will be more of a modern take on the story.
The series is being envisioned as a half-hour comedy “infusing the warmth, humor, and DNA of the classic film while taking a contemporary spin on the stories of the women surrounding the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Will Graham and Abbi Jacobson will co-write and executive produce the project, with Hailey Wierengo (of Amazon Studios-based Field Trip Productions) also executive producing.
The story will begin with the formation of the league in 1943 and follow the Rockford Peaches season after season as they struggle to bond with each other and keep the team together in a rapidly changing United States.
