According to Deadline, HBO Max has given a pilot order to Riverdale universe creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa’s forthcoming gothic horror and teen romance series titled The Shelley Society, which will be based on iconic English gothic novelist Mary Shelley.
The Shelley Society will be written and executive produced by Aguirre-Sacasa along with Riverdale writers Tessa Leigh Williams and James DeWille.
Described as a Victorian X-Files, The Shelley Society will be following young author Mary Shelley as she leads band of Romantic outlaws—among them, her lovers Percy and the Lord Byron—against all manner of supernatural threats and monsters…including Shelley’s own iconic creature, Frankenstein.
In addition, Aguirre-Sacasa is reportedly also developing another drama series titled The Brides, which is being described as a new take on the Brides of Dracula.
