According to Deadline, Oscar winner Allison Janney has officially signed on to star opposite Emmy nominee Kristen Wiig in Apple Studios’ forthcoming TV adaptation of Juliet McDaniel’s 2018 novel Mrs. American Pie.
Mrs. American Pie was developed by Oscar winner Laura Dern (Marriage Story) and Jayme Lemons through their acclaimed Jaywalker Pictures banner.
The comedy series hails from executive producer Laura Dern, who is also “eyeing a ‘key role’” in the show.
Set during the powder keg era of the early 1970s, Mrs. American Pie will be directed by Oscar nominee Tate Taylor (The Help) from a screenplay written by Abe Sylvia (Dead to Me), who will be serving as the showrunner.
