Avengers director Joss Whedon has jumped ship from Marvel to DC for a solo Batgirl adventure.
Whedon will write, direct and produce the untitled project that’ll be a part of Warner Bros’ DC Extended Universe alongside Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Zack Snyder’s superhero mashup Justice League, Variety reports.
In the DC Comics, Batgirl is the daughter of Gotham City’s police commissioner James Gordon, Barbara; she made her debut in 1967’s The Million Dollar Debut of Batgirl.
Batgirl is one of the most popular superheroes in the world, but has never gotten her own movie.
