The BBC has revealed the names of its highest paid actors – with Casualty veteran Derek Thompson topping the list.
Thompson, who has starred as Charlie Fairhead in the medical drama since it started in the mid-1980’s, ranks above stars such as Eastenders’ Danny Dyer and Doctor Who’s Peter Capaldi.
Radio presenter Chris Evans topped the list with £2.2m-2.25m, with Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker following closely behind with £1.75m-1.79m.
Director General Tony Hall admitted the news outlet had a problem with around two-thirds of the highest earners being male.
