Upon the release of Beauty and the Beast in 1991, the movie made history with its soundtrack, which became the first animated film soundtrack to receive an Album of the Year Grammy nomination.
That honor falls to Ariana Grande and John Legend, but Disney has now announced that Dion will be returning to the Disney fold to perform a brand new song for the live-action Beauty and the Beast, instead.
“Being a part of the original ‘Beauty and the Beast’ was such a magical experience in my life, and I’m truly honored to be a part of this film again.”
Its title track, ‘Beauty and the Beast’, won the Academy Award for Best Song, and Grammys for Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, and Best Pop Duo/ Group Performance, for the ‘Beauty and the Beast’ single; as performed as a duet by Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson.
