Actress Billie Lourd posted a moving tribute to her mother, Carrie Fisher, on Wednesday to commemorate the one-year anniversary of Fisher’s death.
The loss of Fisher immediately presented a quandary for Disney and Lucasfilm, who had Fisher cast in all three films in the new Star Wars trilogy.
With her role unaltered, Fisher gave what she didn’t know would be her final big screen performance in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which was made all the more poignant with a tribute to Princess-turned-General Leia icon in the end credits.
Citing Rian Johnson’s words from The Last Jedi, Hamill’s observation on Twitter about Fisher was right. “No one’s ever really gone…,” and Lourd’s post is proof of that.
