While Black Panther is the MCU’s 18th movie to release within the past 10 years, it seems it’s an exception to the growing concern of superhero movie fatigue, as it has not only been rated among the most anticipated movies of the year but it also managed to break a franchise record by outpacing Captain America: Civil War with regard to early ticket presales by selling more advanced tickets in its 24 hours of release than any other MCU film to date.
Lupita Nyong’o has posted a video online saying she wasn’t able to purchase opening night tickets to Black Panther.
Remember, Civil War holds the record for most advanced tickets ever sold for a superhero movie, but it still failed to surpass Avengers: Age of Ultron‘s opening weekend gross.
And seeing the character’s upcoming solo film outperform Civil War in advanced ticket sales, thus far, is quite an achievement, to say the least.
