Elvis shared the domestic box office with Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick, as both films collected $30.5 million over the weekend, per Deadline.
Clearly, the multiplex is very much alive after what felt like a millennia of mediocre box office performances.
Surprisingly, despite the competition, Universal’s thriller The Black Phone managed to pull in a solid $23.3 million in its opening weekend.
Except, where the King is just kicking off his theatrical run, Maverick continued to cruise in its fifth week of release (down just -33%) and now stands at $521.7 million in the US.
