Audiences turned out in droves to see the latest dinosaur extravaganza, elevating Jurassic World: Dominion — the third and “final” film in the Jurassic World franchise and fifth sequel to Steven Spielberg’s 1993 blockbuster Jurassic Park — to an impressive $143 million domestically over its first three days of release, per Deadline.
Of note, the original Top Gun earned $357.1 million in 1986, which climbs to $924 million when adjusted for inflation.
In terms of openings, Dominion falls far below 2015’s Jurassic World, which surprised everyone when it accrued $208 million over its debut weekend, and is off roughly 3% from Fallen Kingdom, which took in $148 million in June of 2018.
Worldwide, Dominion dominated with a massive $176 million, bringing its worldwide total to $389 million.
