This weekend, which serves as the last “spring” weekend before the summer movie season begins in earnest with Avengers: Infinity War, brings Fox Searchlight’s long-awaited comedy sequel Super Troopers 2 to theaters, alongside STX Entertainment’s comedy I Feel Pretty and Lionsgate’s thriller Traffik.
I Feel Pretty, which stars comedy superstar Amy Schumer, has a huge edge in terms of rollout, with STX bringing this comedy into 3,200 theaters, while the other two newcomers pale in comparison.
While it will be another close race at the box office, we’re predicting Rampage will come out on top with $18.2 million, just edging out I Feel Pretty, debuting with $17.4 million.
This opening weekend tally is just a $1.4 million improvement over the 2002 debut of Super Troopers, which earned $6.2 million from 1,780 theaters in its opening weekend.
