When Cannes announced the comedian’s latest film, The Meyerowitz Stories – which was acquired by Netflix in April – would be in competition, there was much bemusement.
“Kind of love that Adam Sandler is so rarely as great as he is in The Meyerowitz Stories, because when he is it feels so revelatory,” writes The Telegraph’s critic.
The Meyerowitz Stories sees Stiller and Sandler play estranged family members who meet up to celebrate their father’s latest artistic work.
Since signing a multi-film contract with Netflix, Adam Sandler’s output has been consistently reviewed negatively, critics hating The Ridiculous 6, The Do-Over, and Sandy Wexler.
