Oscar-winning director Chloé Zhao has joined Participant’s limited TV series based on the murder of Vincent Chin as an executive producer, according to a recent report from Deadline.
The series will tell the story of Chin, who in 1982 was assaulted at a bar and subsequently murdered by two white autoworkers because they believed Chin was Japanese.
The upcoming series has been developed through an exclusive agreement with the Chin estate and executor Helen Zia.
The crime and the following trial led to outrage across America and helped shine a spotlight on the debate of racism against the Asian American community.
