After 11 acclaimed seasons and a decade working with the studio’s comedy-centric cable network TBS, Conan O’Brien has extended his deal with WarnerMedia, though will be shifting gears as he will be bringing his award-winning talk show Conan to an end and moving to HBO Max instead.
“28 years is a monumental achievement in late-night television,” Brett Weitz, General Manager for TNT, TBS and truTV, said in a statement.
“In 1993 Johnny Carson gave me the best advice of my career: ‘As soon as possible, get to a streaming platform,’” O’Brien said in a statement.
“I’m thrilled that I get to continue doing whatever the hell it is I do on HBO Max, and I look forward to a free subscription.” O’Brien’s acclaimed TBS series will be coming to an end at the end of its tenth season in June 2021, though his signature travel specials “Conan Without Borders” is set to continue while the four-time Primetime Emmy winner will host a brand-new weekly variety series on WarnerMedia’s new hit streaming platform.
