According to Deadline, Aladdin star Naomi Scott has been tapped to join Hamilton alum Anthony Ramos in Amblin Partner’s forthcoming sci-fi comedy film titled Distant.
The film will be directed by Will Speck and Josh Gordon (Office Christmas Party) from a screenplay being written by Spenser Cohen (Extinction).
Scott gained recognition for her performance as Princess Jasmine in Disney’s blockbuster live-action Aladdin film which had grossed over $1 billion at the worldwide box office.
Distant will be produced by Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Midnight Special), Fred Berger (La La Land) and Anna Halberg (Extinction), with Speck and Gordon set to executive produce alongside Speck, Gordon, Jonathan Rothbart, and Matt Hirsch, with Kevin Vafi co-producing.
