Black Mirror is officially an Emmy Award-winning TV show having taken home the Outstanding TV Movie and Outstanding Writing for a TV Movie trophies for beloved season three episode ‘San Junipero.’
Ever sarcastic, Charlie Brooker – who we interviewed last year – graced the stage to accept the Outstanding TV Movie award having beat out competitors including fellow BBC series Sherlock and the Robert De Niro-starring The Wizard of Lies.
The 80s-set, neon-dripped episode, starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Mackenzie Davis, was the standout episode for many, its theme of hopefulness marking it out from the show’s other rather more disturbing outings.
Black Mirror’s other nod is Outstanding Cinematography for ‘Nosedive’, the Bryce Dallas Howard-starring episode directed by Joe Wright (Atonement) and written by Parks and Recreation writer Michael Schur and star Rashida Jones.
