Outstanding Drama Series was awarded to The Handmaid’s Tale proving a historic moment for US subscription service Hulu which had failed to earn a nomination in its ten-year history before this year’s nominations announcement.
The 69th Emmy Awards – hosted by Stephen Colbert – has drawn to a close with the evening’s biggest awards going to The Handmaid’s Tale, Big Little Lies and Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror.
The dystopian Margaret Atwood adaptation saw Elisabeth Moss finally take home the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series award having been nominated six times previously for Mad Men.
