Not only did The Secret Life of Pets open with an enormous $103 million at the domestic box office, but while that talking animal cartoon was dominating the competition last weekend, another talking animal cartoon quietly dethroned the summer’s previous box office champ to become the top movie of 2016 so far.
That talking animal cartoon, of course, was Finding Dory, Pixar’s newest movie (and their sequel to a previous talking animal cartoon, Finding Nemo.)
All hail the talking animal cartoon.
Toy Story 3 still holds the worldwide box office record for Pixar, with more than $1 billion in grosses.
