According to Deadline, Oscar-nominated actress Florence Pugh has officially signed on for the leading role in the upcoming film adaptation of author Emma Donoghue’s psychological thriller novel titled The Wonder.
The Wonder film adaptation will be added to Pugh’s growing list of upcoming film projects, including Marvel Studios’ long-awaited Black Widow film; Olivia Wilde’s thriller pic Don’t Worry Darling; Zach Braff’s drama pic Good Person; Universal Pictures’ murder mystery film The Maid; Disney+’s Hawkeye series; and Apple’s sci-fi film Dolly.
Set in 1859, Irish Midlands, The Wonder is described as a tale of two strangers who transform each other’s lives and a story of love pitted against evil.
The film is directed by Sebastián Lelio (Gloria Bell, A Fantastic Woman) from a script he co-written with Donoghue and Alice Birch (Normal People).
