Game of Thrones broke its own record Sunday night, when the HBO fantasy series’ Season 6 finale hit a new series ratings high.
Season 6 has averaged 23.3 million viewers per episode across all ways of viewing, including premieres, reruns, DVR and streaming.
About 8.9 million viewers tuned in to “The Winds of Winter,” according to The Hollywood Reporter, besting the Season 5 finale’s previous high of 8.1 million.
On average, 7.3 million people watched first airings on Sunday during Season 6, so the finale was way up even within the season.
