In Waller-Bridge’s case, she was supposedly going to portray the first main female droid in the Star Wars films via motion-capture, joining the ranks of BB-8 and K-2SO as a new robot that would (hopefully) steal viewers’ hearts.
Just last week, it was reported Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Westworld actress Thandie Newton were in line for parts in Han Solo, though their involvement was never confirmed by Disney or Lucasfilm.
Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller began production on their young Han Solo anthology film at the end of January, and though the cameras are rolling, the duo is still working on filling some key supporting roles.
While fans were pleased and excited to learn of this new CGI character, it sounds like any deal with Waller-Bridge has not been finalized yet, and she’s dismissing it all as speculation.
