Disney+ has officially decided to renew creator Tim Federle’s hit teen drama High School Musical: The Musical: The Series for a third season.
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is a mockumentary musical teen drama that follows a group of students at East High who stage a performance of High School Musical for their winter theater production, only to realize that as much drama is also happening offstage.
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is executive produced by Tim Federle (Ferdinand) and Oliver Goldstick (Pretty Little Liars) along with the original film’s EPs Bill Borden and Barry Rosenbush. The first High School Musical film aired in 2006 on the Disney channel which launched the careers of Zac Efron (The Greatest Showman), Vanessa Hudgens (Dog Days), and Ashley Tisdale (Charming) giving them worldwide recognition.
Season 2 featured the cast staging a Beauty and the Beast musical where they’ve covered songs from the acclaimed play while also performing original songs for the series and songs from High School Musical 2.
