Sean Gunn’s comments line up with what we’ve learned and seen so far concerning Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Yondu’s new status with the main characters.
It was also reported that one of the new members, Taserface (played by Chris Sullivan) would lead a mutinous band of Ravagers.
First it was revealed that Yondu would become one of the new Guardians in the sequel, implying that he’s separated himself from the band of pirates.
Gunn’s comments now seem to clarify that the reason for ousting Yondu from power is because they think he’s too attached to Peter Quill, thus interfering with his duties as a greedy and merciless Ravagers leader.
