Universal’s Grinch property now has the potential to become a successful animated franchise if The Grinch does well with family audiences.
Universal and Illumination Entertainment have produced a string of successful animated films, including the Despicable Me movies, Sing and The Secret Life of Pets.
While the film does come over a month before Christmas, it could still bring in a big audience before the high competition of other holiday season releases, including Aquaman, Mary Poppins Returns and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, along with a PG-13 Deadpool 2 release which is also slated for late December.
