The BBC’s diversity chief, Miranda Wayland, has criticised Luther for not being authentic enough.
The BBC responded, saying it is “tremendously proud” of Luther, which began in 2010 and is now being made into a film.
The character of Luther was not written as a Black detective.
“It would have been an act of tremendous arrogance for me to try to write a Black character.
