Iron Man 3 Villain Was Supposed to be Female, Says Shane Black

The launch of “Phase Two” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Iron Man 3 pitted brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds.

According to Black, Killian was originally meant to be a female villain not unlike the Maya Hansen character played by Rebecca Hall.

In the earlier draft, the woman was essentially Killian – and they didn’t want a female Killian, they wanted a male Killian.
