Trevante Rhodes is different, as Moonlight is a much more intimate film with a more noticeable indie sensibility, and bringing in an actor from this year’s Best Picture winner adds a certain amount of prestige to the DCEU.
If Trevante Rhodes has been tapped to portray a Green Lantern, it will be a notable departure from DC’s traditional casting habits.
If you ask me, it’s a solid change of pace and a phenomenal casting choice.
For the most part, DC seems to have gone out of its way to enlist actors with lengthy resumes and big names in Hollywood — Ben Affleck and Will Smith come to mind — and the up-and-comers that they do cast (such as Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot) typically got their respective starts in action movies.
