The boot-scootin’ buzz was true: Despite its recent cancellation at ABC, Nashville definitely will continue for a fifth season at CMT.
The country-music cable network confirmed the pick-up, which was first reported Tuesday, in a joint statement with Lionsgate and ABC Studios (which produce the series) and Hulu (which will continue to stream it the day after it airs).
The wave of love and appreciation they have unleashed for Nashville has been overwhelming,” Brian Philips, president of the network, said in a statement.
Season 5 of the country-music drama will take place under the leadership of new showrunners Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick (thirtysomething) who have replaced Dee Johnson in the role.
