Fantastic Beasts stars Eddie Redmayne as {Newt Scamander, the author of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a textbook used at Hogwarts by Harry Potter and his classmates.
David Yates, who directed the last four Harry Potter movies, is directing Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, but earlier this week, he hit the red carpet in London at the premiere of his new film The Legend of Tarzan, which opens in theaters worldwide today.
Warner Bros. confirmed that Fantastic Beasts will be a trilogy way back in October 2014, with the studio setting tentative release dates in 2018 and 2020 for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 3.
Earlier this month, the new stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child opened in previews in London, and later this year, author J.K. Rowling will make her screenwriting debut with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which is set 70 years before Harry Potter and his friends first set foot in Hogwarts.
