One of his best films was the John Hughes directed Uncle Buck, which told the story of the slobbish but kind-hearted screw-up Buck Russell, who must babysit his nieces and nephew over the course of several days.
It’s a great John Hughes movie and the character of Buck is apparently not too far off from what John Candy was actually like.
For those who may not know, John Candy was a famous comedian and actor from the 80s and early 90s.
He was known for his supporting and leading roles in films like The Great Outdoors, Spaceballs, Splash, Cool Runnings, and Planes, Trains, & Automobiles.
