Since exiting The Daily Show back in August 2015, Stewart has remained a semi-constant presence in late-night, regularly popping up on CBS’ The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, on which he retains an executive producer credit.
Jon Stewart’s long-in-the-works Daily Show follow-up has come to an end — and it had barely even begun.
According to The New York Times, Stewart and HBO have agreed not to move forward with a previously announced, short-form animated project, citing that the production was “significantly more complicated than both sides expected.”
It is said that the “webisodes” would have been two to five minutes in length and occasionally feature Stewart’s voiceover.
