With this weekend’s opening, the nearly seven-year-old franchise has grossed more than $400 million worldwide, with Insidious: The Last Key actually outperforming the opening weekend of the previous film, Insidious: Chapter 3 ($22.6 million).
Internationally, Jumanji added $70 million to push its overseas total to $275 million and worldwide total to $519 million.
Universal Pictures‘ Insidious: The Last Key opened in second place in North America with an estimated $29.3 million from 3,116 theaters, an average of $9,392 per theater.
Disney•Pixar’s Coco added $5.5 million its seventh weekend in ninth place, for a domestic total of $192.1 million.
