Frequent collaborator Tim Burton brought Elfman on for the 1989 Batman movie (for which he won a Grammy), and the composer returned for 1992’s Batman Returns.
But when it comes to superheroes, he’s notable for lending his musical talents to two major franchises.
His other comic book movie contributions include Dick Tracy, Hulk and Hellboy II: The Golden Army, and he also created the theme for the 1990 Flash TV series.
