After seeing his last series falter at Amazon Studios, nine-time Emmy winner Matthew Weiner (Mad Men) is reportedly heading to FX to develop a new half-hour mystery dramedy series, according to Variety.
Weiner also served as director, executive producer and showrunner on the Jon Hamm-starring series, though with FX having recently inked a deal with streaming service Hulu for multiplatform programming, he could continue in the streaming world.
After its first season received generally mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike, Amazon announced it had no plans to order a second season.
Weiner’s most recent credits include a guest appearance on Fox’s long-running animated sitcom The Simpsons, directing an episode of Netflix’s Orange is the New Black and creating, executive producing and directing the ensemble anthology drama The Romanoffs at Amazon.
