The third film in the Fantastic Beasts franchise is currently in production and will see actor Mads Mikkelsen replace Johnny Depp as main antagonist Gellert Grindelwald.
The previous film in the Harry Potter prequel franchise, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, earned $653 million at the worldwide box office.
In a new interview, Mikkelsen discussed how he approaches stepping into a character that’s already been played by someone else.
The third installment will again be directed by David Yates from a screenplay written by J.K. Rowling and Steve Kloves.
